Myrto (pronounced Meer-tóe) has been with Waterloo since 2022. Before joining the Waterloo team, worked with expats, immigrants, refugee individuals, couples, and families in Athens, Greece. She is a Licensed Professional Counselor Associate (LPC-A) and a Licensed Psychological Associate (LPA). She received her Master of Science in Clinical and Health Psychology from The University of Leiden, in the Netherlands.

Myrto was always curious about how things work and dreamt of changing the world. When she discovered that therapy can change our worlds and found her passion in understanding how our brains work, she started her long journey of becoming a therapist.

She specializes in issues related to trauma, emotions, self-care, coping, self-exploration, communication, life changes, stress, depression, anxiety, PTSD, and ADHD. She has been working with complex trauma survivors, adults from dysfunctional families, diverse sociocultural backgrounds, and with alternative relationship structures.

Myrto has been trained in Cognitive Behavioral Therapy, EMDR, and has completed the Level 3 Practicum Training in Gottman Method Couples Therapy. She is an eclectic therapist combining interventions from various therapeutic approaches, such as person-centered, Acceptance Commitment Therapy (ACT), Positive Psychotherapy (PPT), Mindfulness-Based Cognitive Therapy (MBCT), Dialectical Behavioral Therapy (DBT), schema therapy, narrative therapy, existential therapy, art therapy, and motivational interviewing.

Myrto’s life mission is to provide a safe space offering an affirming, collaborative, culturally competent, as well as sex- and kink-positive therapeutic environment. She works with clients to improve mental health and resilience by processing trauma, exploring and practicing new tangible skills, and integrating preferred interventions to co-create a personalized action plan.

Myrto is proud to be making a difference as a nerdy multilingual Greek therapist at Waterloo. In her free time, she binge-watches TV shows and movies, explores hypothetical, existential, and philosophical scenarios, and takes long walks while listening to music.
