Carol Hernandez, LMSW is a bilingual (Spanish-speaking) therapist who has been providing care for the past five years. Originally from Southern California and raised in the Rio Grande Valley, Carol earned her undergraduate degree from the University of Texas Rio Grande Valley and completed her graduate education at Baylor University.
Carol has worked across a wide range of healthcare settings, including hospitals and acute care, inpatient psychiatric hospitals, intensive outpatient programs, and integrated behavioral health within primary care and OBGYN settings. She specializes in supporting clients from BIPOC, LGBTQ+, immigrant, and neurodivergent (ADHD/autism) communities as they navigate anxiety, depression, chronic stress, and trauma.
Her approach is culturally attuned and decolonial, centering identity, community wisdom, and the lived experiences of Spanish-speaking and immigrant clients. Carol joined Texas Health Action in June 2025 and is passionate about therapy as a space for connection, healing, and strengthening both individuals and the communities they belong to.
Outside of work, she loves starting crafty projects (even if they go unfinished), spending time with her cat Rue and dog Frida, and enjoying sweets, chocolate, coffee, and Mexican snacks.
